A transparent 7-step process from first conversation to final walkthrough — no surprises, no hidden costs.
Building a custom home is one of the largest investments you will ever make. At Ninth Construction, we believe you deserve to know exactly what happens at every stage — who is on site, what decisions are coming next, and how your budget is being used. Here is our process from start to finish.
We start with a conversation — no pressure, no sales pitch. Wes Haithcock will walk you through your vision, your ideal location (or existing lot), your budget range, and your timeline. By the end of this call you will know whether Ninth Construction is the right fit, and you will have a realistic picture of what your home will cost and how long it will take.
We work with your architect or connect you with our trusted local design partners to develop your floor plans and elevations. Every detail is your choice — layout, ceiling heights, window placement, exterior style. Once you love the plans, we finalize specifications and prepare a detailed fixed-price contract. You know the exact cost before we submit a single permit.
We handle all permit submissions with Guilford County, Alamance County, or your local municipality. Permit timelines in the Greensboro and Burlington area typically run 4–8 weeks. While we wait, we finalize your subcontractor schedule, order long-lead materials, and prep the site. You do not have to interact with the county building department at all — that is our job.
Ground breaks. We manage site clearing, grading, utility rough-ins, and foundation work. All concrete work is inspected and approved before framing begins. Wes is on site daily during foundation to ensure everything is level, square, and built to last.
This is where your home takes shape. Framing goes up, followed by roofing, windows, and doors. Mechanical trades — HVAC, plumbing, and electrical — run their rough-ins. We use trusted subcontractors we have worked with for years. Every system passes county inspection before we close the walls. You are welcome on site at any point during this phase.
Insulation, drywall, paint, flooring, cabinetry, tile, trim, fixtures — your home comes to life. We schedule a mid-construction walkthrough so you can see your selections in person and make any final adjustments before items are permanently installed. We would rather catch a change here than after the fact.
Before you take possession, we conduct a detailed pre-closing punch list together. Every item is resolved. County performs the final inspection and issues the certificate of occupancy. Then we hand you the keys. You are covered by our 1-year workmanship warranty and 6-year structural warranty from that day forward.
